ASCET 6

ASCET 6 is an ETAS software tool for developing automotive embedded software using a model-based approach. It is the predecessor of ASCET-DEVELOPER.

Originally, ASCET stood for Advanced Simulation and Control Engineering Tool. Since 1997, it has been widely used to develop safety-critical software for automotive systems such as braking, steering, and engine management. Today, ASCET-developed software is used in millions of ECUs.

Instead of writing the complete application in C code, developers create software models using block diagrams and state machines. ASCET 6 can simulate these models and automatically generate C code for the target ECU. This helps improve software quality and reduces development effort.

This tutorial shows how to use ASCET 6 models with EHANDBOOK Container-Build to generate an interactive EHANDBOOK Container. You will learn how to prepare the required input files, add model screenshots, include signal and interface information, add textual documentation, and generate the final container.

EHANDBOOK support for ASCET 6

EHANDBOOK Container-Build supports generating interactive documentation from ASCET 6 models.

  • ASCET 6 models can be used as specification models for the algorithmic behavior of ASAM MDX-based ECU functions or AUTOSAR Classic software components.

  • Generate interactive model views to explore the model structure and understand the software behavior.

  • Combine model screenshots, signal information, interface specifications, and textual documentation into a single EHANDBOOK Container.

  • ETAS also provides customer-specific add-ons to directly generate EHANDBOOK Containers from ASCET 6 models.
