Installation Guide

This guide provides information on installing and licensing the EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox for Simulink.

Introduction

This guide addresses qualified personnel working in the fields of automobile ECU development and testing. Specialized knowledge in the areas of measurement and ECU technology is required.

The EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox for Simulink is a MATLAB Simulink addon used for EHANDBOOK container generation from your Simulink and Stateflow models. An EHANDBOOK container is a file format which contains your interactive documentation with the file extension *.ehb. Your documentation can be viewed with the EHANDBOOK-NAVIGATOR.

Prerequisites

Before installing the Toolbox for Simulink, ensure you have:

  • Valid EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox license

  • Administrator privileges on your workstation

  • Compatible MATLAB/Simulink version installed

License Installation

In order to use the EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox for Simulink, you must register your license. Run the license installer once to add your license configuration to the Windows registry.

You must download the package from the ETAS Download Center before proceeding with the installation.

Download Package

To download the package and unzip the files:

  1. Download the package from ETAS Download Center

  2. Unzip the package, ETAS EHANDBOOKCB_x.x.x_Simulink.zip

The zip file contains the following files:

  • ETAS EHANDBOOKCB_x.x.x_Simulink_Addon.mltbx

  • EHANDBOOK-CB_x.x.x_License_Management_setup.exe

Register License

To register the license:

  1. Run the ETAS EHANDBOOK-CB_x.x.x_License_Management_setup.exe by double-clicking on it

  2. Click Next

  3. Verify your license installation with the ETAS License Manager

There will be an entry, "EHANDBOOK-CB-TOOLBOX" in the ETAS License Manager.

System Requirements

Operating System:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

  • Minimum 8 GB available RAM

  • SSD highly recommended

16 GB RAM or more may be required for complex models and huge amount of texts and graphics.

MATLAB/Simulink:

  • Windows 64-bit variant of MATLAB/Simulink

  • MATLAB versions 2016b through 2024b (inclusive)

  • Supports Simulink models in .slx and .mdl format

Installation Methods

You can install ETAS EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox for Simulink using any of the following three methods:

  • Method 1: Installing from MATLAB®/Simulink® tool

  • Method 2: Installing into the selected MATLAB®/Simulink® version

  • Method 3: Installing into the latest MATLAB®/Simulink® version

To install from within MATLAB:

  1. Open the MATLAB®/Simulink® tool

  2. Go to the menu, Open

  3. Click the folder icon, Open from the drop-down menu

    Windows Explorer is displayed to navigate to the installation file.

  4. Click ETAS EHANDBOOKCB_x.x.x_Simulink_Addon.mltbx file

    An "Install ETAS EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox" dialog box opens.

  5. Click Install

    Installation starts. After completion, an "Installation Complete" dialog box appears.

    By default, the checkbox to open the Getting Started Guide of toolbox is selected. You can deselect it if not required.

  6. Click Finish to complete the installation

Method 2: Installing into Selected MATLAB Version

To install into a specific MATLAB version:

  1. Navigate to the folder where you downloaded and unzipped the files

  2. Right-click on the ETAS EHANDBOOKCB_x.x.x_Simulink_Addon.mltbx file

    A context menu is displayed.

  3. Click Open with

    Displays all the MATLAB®/Simulink® versions installed in your system.

  4. Select the MATLAB version where the toolbox should be installed

    An "Install ETAS EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox" dialog box opens.

  5. Click Install

    Installation starts. After completion, an "Installation Complete" dialog box appears.

  6. Click Finish to complete the installation

Method 3: Installing into Latest MATLAB Version

To install into the latest MATLAB version:

  1. Navigate to the folder where you downloaded and unzipped the files

  2. Double-click on the ETAS EHANDBOOKCB_x.x.x_Simulink_Addon.mltbx file

    An "Install ETAS EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox" dialog box opens.

  3. Click Install

    Installation starts. After completion, an "Installation Complete" dialog box appears.

    By default, the checkbox to open the Getting Started Guide of toolbox is selected. You can deselect it if not required.

  4. Click Finish to complete the installation

Verify Installation

After performing any of the above installation methods, verify the installation as follows:

To verify the installation:

  1. Go to Add-Ons menu on the menu bar in MATLAB®/Simulink® tool

  2. Click Manage Add-Ons from the drop-down menu

    An "Installed" window displays the ETAS EHANDBOOK Container-Build Toolbox for Simulink after successful installation.
